Curtain Call Youth Players, a non-profit children's theater organization, was formed in 1992 for young people in grades 5-12 dedicated to learning and performing live theater for family and public audiences. CCYP takes children in by registration, provides training and then performs 3-4 major productions per year at The Art Place-Mt. View in Marietta. In the summer CCYP offers Performance Camps for 3rd-12th graders.
CCYP, as the group has come to be known, is a non-profit organization founded by interested parents of Cobb County, Georgia. It was formed as a repertory group of young people dedicated to learning and performing live theatre for family audiences. This is still true today though our audiences have expanded to include people throughout the local metropolitan area.
Our mission at CCYP is a simple one: We seek to fulfill a need in our community to educate our youth to all aspects of the performance and production of live theatre and to nurture the love of live theatre in persons of all ages. Need based scholarships may be available.
Players: Our Players group is open by registration (without audition) to students 5th through 12th grade who have an interest in learning about theater skills and production techniques. A professional director and staff, experienced with children’s theater, are hired for each play. Players rehearse twice a week for 8 weeks prior to each production and then perform 6 times at The Art Place. Plays are open to the public and provide real life theater experience. Productions are in March and November.
Troupe: The Troupe is an audition-based group for 9th through 12th graders and is designed for the more experienced actor. Two productions are performed yearly. Rehearsal schedules vary depending on the production.
Summer Acting Camps: One week day camps with an educational focus, customized for specific age and experience levels, are offered throughout the summer. Each camp concludes with a performance.
